Glimpse — Support

Last updated: 1 October 2026

Welcome to the support page for Glimpse · Dates 2 Go, the app everyone just calls Glimpse. It helps you connect with people you have actually crossed paths with: your phone uses Bluetooth to notice when another Glimpse phone is close by. This page answers the most common questions and explains how to reach us.

Need a person? Email us at feedback.glimpse@gmail.com and we'll get back to you, usually within 2 business days.

What is Glimpse?

Glimpse is a dating app for people you have actually crossed paths with. Instead of swiping through profiles from all over town, Glimpse only shows you people who really were near you — at the same café, event, gym, or street. When two phones running Glimpse come close to each other, they notice one another over Bluetooth, with no GPS involved. You only see people who fit what you're looking for, and who are looking for someone like you.

Your home screen has three tabs: nearby (who is around you right now), glimpses (everyone you recently crossed paths with) and matches (everyone where something is happening).

Tap on someone and you have two ways to show interest — plus not interested, which simply removes them:

  • Crush (anonymous) — they only learn that someone has a Crush on them, not who. If you both have a Crush, it's a match.
  • Flirt (direct, right now) — they see that you'd like to say hi, and answer yes or no. If it's a yes: walk over, smile, talk.

Once you both want to, you can send each other a few short messages to find each other. The rest happens in real life, not in a chat. Afterwards you tap We have met, and each of you decides in your own time whether there should be a second date. If you both say yes, the second date is on and you can message each other again.

A colour tells you where the two of you stand: pink for a Crush and a match, orange for a Flirt and your meet-up, red for a second date.

Getting started

  1. Install Glimpse on your phone. The app is listed as Glimpse · Dates 2 Go.
  2. Create your profile — your name, a photo, your gender, and who you're looking for. You can pick any combination of women, men and others; you and another person only see each other if both of your preferences fit.
  3. Enter your date of birth and confirm. Glimpse is for adults aged 18 and older, so you enter your birth date once during setup, and you tick the consent box for processing your gender and who you're looking for.
  4. Decide whether your name is visible. A safety toggle in the last setup step hides your name from strangers. People you have matched with still see it.
  5. Allow Bluetooth when prompted. This is what lets Glimpse notice people near you. Without it, the app cannot work.
  6. Allow notifications so you find out about a Crush, a Flirt or a match while the app isn't open.
  7. Set yourself visible. The visibility toggle on the home screen decides whether nearby people can see you at all. While you're hidden, nobody sees you.

That's it — keep Glimpse running and it will surface people around you as you go about your day.

Permissions Glimpse asks for, and why

Permission Status Why
Bluetooth Required Glimpse uses Bluetooth Low Energy to detect other Glimpse users nearby. It does not use Bluetooth to connect to headphones, speakers, or other accessories, and it does not track your GPS location. On Android 11 and older the system also asks for the location permission for Bluetooth scanning; Glimpse needs it there only for that and does not read your location.
Notifications Recommended So you find out about a Crush, a Flirt, a match or a message even when the app isn't open.
Camera Optional For your profile photo. Only asked for when you choose “Take Photo”. “Choose from Gallery” needs no permission: it opens your phone's own photo picker, which hands Glimpse only the one photo you pick.

You can review or change all of these any time in your phone's settings, under Glimpse.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see anyone nearby?

A few things to check:

  • Bluetooth is on for your phone and allowed for Glimpse.
  • You're visible — check the visibility toggle inside the app.
  • There's actually another Glimpse user nearby. Glimpse only shows people who have the app, are nearby and visible right now, and who fit your search (and you fit theirs). In areas with few users, you may not see anyone.
  • Glimpse is running. For the most reliable detection, keep the app running rather than force-quitting it.

Does Glimpse track my location?

No. Glimpse does not use GPS and does not share a map location. It works by noticing when another Glimpse phone is within Bluetooth range — it knows someone is near, not where either of you are on a map.

Who can see my name?

You decide. With the name toggle off, strangers only see your photo; once you and another person have matched, they see your name. You can change the setting any time under Edit profile.

How do I stop being seen by people around me?

Turn visibility off inside the app. While you're hidden, nearby users will not see you and you won't appear in anyone's list. You can turn it back on whenever you like.

Why do I need to keep the app running?

Bluetooth detection works best when Glimpse is active. Leaving it running gives you the best results. If detection stops when your screen is off, check that battery optimisation is not restricting Glimpse. Phones limit what any app may do in the background, so detection is most reliable when you open Glimpse now and then while you're out.

What is a Crush, what is a Flirt?

A Crush is the anonymous route: the other person only learns that someone has a Crush on them, never who, and only a mutual Crush turns into a match. A Flirt is the direct route in the here and now: the other person sees who you are, and answers yes or no.

Can I chat in Glimpse?

Only a little, on purpose. Once you both want to meet, you can exchange a few short messages to find each other, and again once you both said yes to a second date. Glimpse is built for meeting in person, not for endless chatting.

What happens when I tap "We have met"?

It ends the arranging part and opens the decision: second date, yes or no. Each of you decides alone, and neither sees the other's answer unless both say yes. The short chat closes at that point.

I'm not getting notifications.

Check in your phone's settings that notifications are allowed for Glimpse, and that Do Not Disturb isn't silencing them.

How do I edit my profile or photo?

Open the menu on the home screen and choose Edit profile. You can change your photo, your name, whether your name is visible, and who you're looking for. Your own gender and your date of birth stay fixed — they decide who sees you at all, and your birth date already passed the age check.

Someone is behaving badly. What can I do?

Open that person's screen and use the menu in the top bar to report them. Reporting blocks them right away, and we ask you for a short email about what happened, because that's the only way we can look into it. Accounts that several people report are suspended automatically. You can also just block someone without reporting, then they disappear from your app.

Does Glimpse work between different kinds of phone?

Yes. Every phone running Glimpse finds every other one the same way, whatever device the other person is holding. Nothing about the encounter changes.

Privacy and your data

  • Glimpse shows other users only the profile information you chose: your photo, your name if you allow it, your gender and who you're looking for. It does not reveal any location.
  • Your visibility is always under your control via the in-app toggle.
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
  • If you have a privacy question, email feedback.glimpse@gmail.com.

Account and data requests

You can delete your account and its data at any time — directly in the app (menu → Edit profile → Delete account, at the bottom of that screen), or by email. See Deleting your account for details. To request deletion by email, write to feedback.glimpse@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account" and your username, and we'll process the request.

Troubleshooting checklist

If something isn't working, try these steps in order:

  1. Make sure you're on the latest version of Glimpse.
  2. Confirm Bluetooth and notifications are allowed for Glimpse in your phone's settings.
  3. Toggle your in-app visibility off and on again.
  4. Fully close and reopen the app.
  5. Restart your phone.

If it still doesn't work, email us with a description of the problem, your phone model and its system version.

Glimpse — Support

Zuletzt aktualisiert: 1. Oktober 2026

Was ist Glimpse?

Erste Schritte

  1. Installiere Glimpse auf deinem Handy. Die App heißt vollständig Glimpse · Dates 2 Go.

Verfolgt Glimpse meinen Standort?

Nein.

Wer sieht meinen Namen?
